Lake County Workforce Development Program

Lake County Workforce Development Program

If you’re an employer in or near Lake County, and you are having trouble finding qualified candidates to fill open positions within your company, and who isn’t, the Lake County Workforce Development Program can help you fully staff your business. Plus, the program will pick up the tab for most, if not all, of the wages and training during the first six months of employment!

One way Lake County’s Business Services team helps is by getting word out about your open positions and helping you reach job candidates. At no cost to you, they will:

  • Assist with job postings
  • Provide access to the Job Center of Lake County
  • Assist with job fairs, employer hiring events and help employers engage with local chambers of commerce
  • Create customized recruitment plans and provide pre-hire training for eligible applicants

The County’s Incumbent Worker Training Program helps local business develop and implement training programs to retain current employees. The Business Services team partners with industry consultants to help employers design a training program to fit their needs. The program even reimburses employers for up to 90%, if not more, of training costs.

Their Work Experience/Internship Program provides a planned, structured learning experience that takes place in your own workplace for up to 6 months or 1000 hours. The program covers up to 100% of the intern’s wages. Qualified applicants are referred or identified by the employer. This program may even cover the cost of schooling and supplies!

Finally, On the Job Training (OJT) for new employees is another area where the Business Services team can help you. Again, qualified applicants are referred or identified by the employer. The OJT program covers up to 90% of the trainee’s wages for up to 6 months or 1000 hours. This program, too, may cover the cost of schooling and supplies.
